Hi fellows,
While we have to indicate the dimensions to the authorities by meassurement, we found, that our Hatz spans (top wing tip to tip) almost 7.90m whch is almost 26 feet! Plans tell anout 25 feet!
We have followed closely the plans what concerns span. What do you think?
Best regards

Re: Classic wingspan
Actually you aren't too far off by my calculations. 7.90m = 311 inches or 25 feet 11 inches.
If you take all the measurements off the plans it works out as follows:
Center section: 54.0 inches
Top Wing panel: 126.0 inches x 2 = 252.0 inches
Gap between Top Wing & CS: 0.25 inches x 2 = 0.5 inches
Total plans wingspan = 306.5 inches or 25 feet 6.5 inches
So it looks like you came out 4.5 inches longer in span (2.25 inches per side) than the plans. Did you make any changes to the wing tip area? Wider center section?

Re: Classic wingspan
One of my top wings is 126.5" and the other is 127" with a center section of 54" So I measure in at 307.5.
I will probably add a little to the "Shorter Bow" to make then equal since that wing is not quite finished.
I would not have noticed had I not measured it in response to your post.

Re: Classic wingspan
Thanks folks,
So, we are not to far away from others, but it seems that the indication of 25' on the Makelan plans is definitively wrong! We made a wing tip desin change, but didn't go over the tips set on the makelan wing panel drawing.
When we have figured that out, we will let you know also the details of our weight and balance!
Kind regards

Final measurment of top wing span: 25' 7 1/2" ! Checked the drawings, couldn't find a fault, hence the span is definitly more than specified!

Re: Classic wingspan
No surprise given some of the other discrepancies on the plans.
