Wood/Fabric Ailerons

Post by JJHanson71 »

I have been contacted through private message about information on our wood / fabric ailerons. Unfortunately I can't seem to figure out how to respond to it. As for the ailerons, I don't have plans for them but I do have numerous construction photos of the whole process of building one start to finish - too many to post on the forum. If you are interested in going this route, email me and I can send you the photos.

Jeff. I am ready to paint my fabric replacement ailerons. Glad I saw yours at OSH. This was in inspiration to make the change. I think it really changes the appearance of the wing (biplane look).

Initially, the change was made do to frustration over having made my aileron spars per the drawings with the taper on the top. After months of work trying to make that work with the piano hinge and trying to get all of the skin ribs to line up, I gave up and went back to something I knew. In the end, I am much happier with the final result.
