Batteries

Hi,
I am just finishing up a recover of my other plans and can't wait to get back to work on my Hatz. I keep telling myself to get some pictures posted but haven't gotten to it yet. I have most details either done or planned, but I never decided on a battery. I will be using a Lycoming O-320 with a Toyota geared starter. A while back there was discussion of a Panasonic 18ah battery being suitable. I was wondering if anyone has come up with anything better.
I will be mounting the battery on the firewall, so weight is a factor with the 320. I will be using a wood prop, so that helps. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Al

I installed an Odyssey 680 in my Parakeet in 1995 and it is still going great. We also have one in our Hatz Classic.

I know I brought the PC680 first, but then I was wondering if there is anything better out there, and found this:

a pound heavier, than the PC680, but twice the CCA? maybe too good to be true, with the same AGM technology.
Sorry to muddy the waters.

Hi Al,
My CB-1 battery is mounted on the firewall also, I used this Interstate battery. http://www.interstatebatteries.com 'Power Patrol SLA1116', 12v 18ah. My first ran strong for four years, until I left the master on and killed it. My second one is three years and still great. I like the $65 price. When I need to replace it, I will try one of the EarthX lithium-iron three pound batteries, the experimental Super Cub guys seem to like them. I'm based at 2nk9 if you are in the area. Herb.
