Not too early to start preparing for the gathering!
Got my tickets and rental car reserved, planning on camping on the grounds.
Hope to meet the people behind the names, and hopefully finally get my first ride in a Hatz!

Ribs are done, learning to weld...

Right on, Amit! I'll be there driving my pickup or flying my Hatz and hopefully the latter.

There isn't much storage space in the Hatz (just the glovebox in ours). Has anyone shipped their tent & gear to Brodhead in the past? How did you get it from Brodhead to Oshkosh?

Gear... pretty vague reference. When Hatzing, travelling light is the way to go.
I travel to weekend stuff with a tent, sleeping bag, a couple of days worth of clothes and personal items. The tent is a small two man job that I store lying on top of the fuselage's lower tubing along the right side of the pilot's seat . I have an extended baggage area so I stuff the sleeping bag in it as far aft as I can or I use it for the rear seat cushion. I put the clothes in a small duffel bag and put it under my knees on the floor board. Personal items go in the rear baggage area. If I'm traveling alone, I secure as much as I can in the front seat. When my daughter travels with me, she stores stuff between her feet in the front 'pit.
As for OSH, I'm fortunate enought to have friends with a trailer headed that way and they allow me to put the extra stuff in it... for a small fee of liquid refreshment.....

Jeff and I are planning to be at Brodhead, weather permitting, with the Hatz and the Parakeet.

Here is the response that I received regarding shipping items up to the airport. Posted with permission:

Just got the engine running yesterday with a complete new top overhaul. Lord willing, (if the rest of the break-in goes well), I will be at Brodhead and should be able to give lots of rides in the Mehlin Smith Brodhead Hatz. I am looking forward to seeing everyone there. Always the highlight of my fly-in calendar.

She's a beauty, Bill! A very special lady! Can't wait to see her again. There are many aspects of her that I based my Hatz on. That, and thoughts and opinions offerred up by Mehlin during casual chats.
