Conckpit / coaming

I just finished my coaming. I think this was one of the most nerve wracking task. I was not sure there were enough cows in TN to get this right.

That looks nice. How did you terminate it at the center and hold it in place.

Note that my compas is in the center of my rear cockpit opening. I ran the coaming up to the sides of my compas box. I held the ends in place with a little contact cement. Then made a 2" wide finish piece with finished edges and covered the ends with this. I laced rawhide lacing on 2" centers around the entire coaming. The front pit I just finished the edges with a folded seam and overlaped the 2 pieces. To making the lacing continious you need to go all the way around then come back all the way to the start. On the first section I driled 1/4" holes - tooo small. Had a very hard time getting the return lacing thru the holes. All the other sections I drilled a 5/16 hole in the cowling and punched a 1/4" hole in the leather - worked perfect.
