Which fuel valve?

Post by orchardair »

I am looking at the Aircraft Spruce catalog, trying to figure out which p/n to order.
I think I narrowed it down to either
6749: FUEL SHUT OFF VALVE P/N 6749 (3-PORT)
or
05-01032 108HD-06 3-Port* 3/8" Female x 3/8" Female.

Which has worked for others?

To answer my own question, I think the best bet is ACS P/N 05-01033 114-HD-04 4-Port 1/4" Female
In this way the fuel "in" can be oriented "up" (to the general direction of the fuel tank), and the fuel "out" can be oriented "forward" (to the general direction of the engine).

Also, order 2X AN913-2 brass plugs for the unused 2 ports. (or, to save $20: vans aircraft 1/4" pipe plug).

Any input would be appreciated still.

We used the Weatherhead #6749 valve from Aircraft Spruce and it works very well. It is also much less expensive than the others and is easy to mount.

My valve is located on a bracket, that's mounted to the tubing by the firewall, with a long actuator rod running to the rear cockpit.
I tried the weatherhead valve and didn't like the amount of torque needed to turn the valve so I switched to the 05-29500 Allen valve. I liked the feel much better although it's more expensive.
